1.What are the file formats that I can import?

The formats that can be imported are JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF.In addition, PNG and GIF with alpha (semi-transparency) or full transparency are also supported.

* You cannot import assets (User Picture Import) on ComiPo! Trial Edition

2. What are the file formats that I can export to?

The formats that can be exported to are JPEG ,PNG and PDF.

3. Is there a Mac version of ComiPo!?

ComiPo! is a software program developed exclusively for use on Microsoft Windows.

For Mac users, unfortunately, there is currently no plan to develop a Mac version. However, it is possible to run ComiPo! under Windows environment on Mac computers using Boot Camp or other virtual machine software. ComiPo LLP has tested and confirmed that ComiPo! can be run under the following environment:

  • Mac : Mac Book Pro (model A1278) + Boot Camp
  • Windows : Windows 7 Professional

However, these results were dependent on the specific environment used by ComiPo LLP. We do not guarantee that it will operate correctly on other Mac environments as well.

* In addition, we received a report from a user regarding a successful running on Windows in "VMware Fusion 2". In such case, please try the following steps:

  1. Open "Tools > Preference" menu.
  2. Check the option "Switch 3D Rendering Method" in "3D Setting > Trouble Measures".
  3. Quit and restart ComiPo!

However, the actual results may vary depending on your Mac environment. ComiPo LLP do not guarantee that it will operate correctly on other Mac environments as well.

  • * If you have questions about 3D rendering, please refer to FAQ question 30.
  • * If you would like to confirm that ComiPo! can run on your system, please try ComiPo! Trial Edition first before making purchase.
4. Can I use only the preset panel layout?

In addition to the preset panel layout templates, you can also change the size or position of the panels or add more panels.

6. Can I import photos I took with my digital camera?

You can import photos or images in JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP or TIFF format as additional assets and use as background, decorations or effects.

* You cannot import images (Import User Image) on ComiPo! Trial Edition.

7. Can I use comics that I created for a corporate website or pamphlet?

Yes, no problem at all.

However, if they were created with ComiPo! Trial Edition, you are not allowed to use for business or commercial purpose.

8. I want to purchase ComiPo!, but I don’t know if my PC can run the software. What should I do?

If you are not sure, please try ComiPo! Trial Edition first and confirm the software is running fine before making purchase.

9. How many fonts for dialog balloon are available?

You can use "TrueType fonts" and "OpenType PostScript format fonts" installed on Windows.

10. Can I add Comic marks or sound effects?

Yes, you can import PNG images with alpha created with any graphics software and use as additional assets.

* You cannot import images (Import User Image) on ComiPo! Trial Edition.

11. Is it possible to create comics in black and white instead of full color?

Yes, you can do that.

There is a built-in image transformation function that converts comics from full color to black and white for you. You can choose to convert an individual panel or the whole comic using export dialog.

* You cannot convert to black and white when you export a comic file with ComiPo! Trial Edition.

12. Is it possible to save a comic file and edit it later?

Yes, you can save the working comic in ComiPo! format (.cpd) and later open the file to resume your work.

* You cannot save and open comic files with ComiPo! Trial Edition. However, exporting image files is possible.

13. What is the maximum size for exporting image files?

The maximum size is 2650 x 3700 pixels.

* The maximum size for ComiPo! Trial Edition is limited to 345 x 1000 pixels.

14. How many character variations can I create?

Since it is possible to change not only the faces, hair styles, eyes and hair colors, but also the angles and extensions, you can potentially create millions of character variations.

Please visit this page for details about available character parts.

* The free trial version only includes a limited number of parts.

15. What should I do if I want to reverse the order in "Layer List"?

Select "Show Reverse Order" from context menu by clicking the right mouse button on the "Layer List"

16. Is it possible to use the fonts installed on Windows for commercial purposes?

It is possible to use fonts that are installed on Windows.

However, you are advised to use them in accordance to their respective licenses.

17. Why does the character only show the upper body?

This is because some parts of character are out of camera's viewing angle. Please try changing the camera angle with one of the following methods.

A. Change the "Camera Angle"

Please push the "Camera Angle" button in "Layer Properties" in the top right corner of the screen and choose the angle you want from the list.

B. 3D Movement

  • B1. You can change positions using 3D movement in case the head and legs are clipped. You can use " Go Up", " Go Down", " Go to Right", " Go to Left" buttons that are located on the third line of the tool bar.
  • B2. You can drag the 3D handle (□ and ○ that are displayed at the center of the 3D layer) by using the right mouse button.

C. 3D Zoom

You can use 3D zoom if you want to see a little more close up.

  • C1.You can adjust zoom level using the " Zoom In" or " Zoom Out" buttons located on the third line of the tool bar.
  • C2. You can drag the 3D handle (□ and ○ displayed at the center of the 3D layer) using the mouse wheel button. However, it may not work properly depending on the setting of the mouse’s driver.

19. How do you pronounce "ComiPo!" correctly?

[Japanese pronunciation]

The intonation rises from "mi" to "po" to a higher tone. For example, it sounds like "Tezuka" in "Osamu Tezuka" and or "Tanaka" in "Keiichi Tanaka".

20. Can I use a comic file (.cpd file) on other PCs?

If the comic file (.cpd file) is created by the same version of ComiPo!, you should be able to open and edit the file on another PC. Therefore, it is possible to continue working on a comic from another user.

  • * Please be aware that if an additional font is used in speech balloons, it may be replaced by another font if the other user's computer does not have the particular font you are using.
  • * You cannot save or open comic files with the free trial version.

21. Can I use character data that I created on other computer?

Your character data (.xml file) is saved in a folder that you can open from the "Tools > Open Custom Character Saved Folder" menu. You can use it by copying this file to the same folder on another computer.

* You can use characters that were created using ComiPo! Trial Edition in the commercial version too. However, you can not use data from the commercial version in the free trial version.

22. Do I have to buy two copies of ComiPo! for desktop and laptop computers if I want to use on both of them?

The commercial version of ComiPo! contains 1 (one) software license that can be installed on "up to two computers".

23. I just bought a new PC. How can I reinstall ComiPo!?

First, please uninstall ComiPo! from your original PC with internet connection.Then, install ComiPo! on your new PC and enter the license key.

* If you also want to move "Custom Character" and "User Image" to your new PC, please save files inside of the "Custom Character Saved Folder" and "User Image Saved Folder" to another location before you uninstall ComiPo! from the original PC. You can open both folders from "Tools" menu.

After finishing installation of ComiPo! on your new PC, copy these files to the above respective folders. Now you can continue using ComiPo! with your existing data.

24. The character disappears from the screen after I chose "sitting down in a chair" or "sleeping" poses. Why?

This is because character position moves out of camera's viewing angle after pose has changed. Please try changing the camera angle with one of the following methods.

A. Change the "Camera Angle"

Please push the "Camera Angle" button in "Layer Properties" in the top right corner of the screen and choose the angle you want from the list.

26. I can not start ComiPo! because there is an error when I try to open ComiPo! Why?

The following reasons may be possible.

A. Microsoft .NET Framework is not installed or a part of the file is damaged.

Please reinstall ComiPo! or .NET Framework via Windows Update. If you need to download .NET Framework separately, you can download it from this URL.

B. It may be blocked by security software.

There is a possibility that the network access required to start ComiPo! might be blocked by the security software. It may be solved if you create an exception for ComiPo! within the security monitoring software.

To permanently exclude it from being monitored, please check the instructions of your security software.

* If none of these suggestions works to solve the issue, please inquire directly.

27. Can I use image (for example, comic, graphics or characters) that I created with ComiPo! for use in other software?

There is no problem with the use of image materials with other software.

* When there is a question concerning specific usage, please contact us directly.

28. How do I download Bonus Items?

You can download them from the official ComiPo! Bonus Items page at http://www.comipo.com/en/bonus/

You will need to have an ID and password to access the Bonus Items. You can find your ID and password in the confirmation e-mail you received after registering your edition of ComiPo!. If you can’t find your registration confirmation email, please go to the Help section of ComiPo! and access User Registration. The User Registration window will open with the name and email address that you used when you first registered your ComiPo!. If you click “OK”, the registration confirmation email will be sent again.

29. I want to know my license key. Where can I look for it?

You can check your ComiPo! license key from the following places:

  1. From the registration confirmation email sent to you when you registered ComiPo!.
  2. From inside the application. (If you have already installed.)

Open "Help > Contact Page", and look for "License Key". You should see 19-character license key.

30. I have problems about displaying 3D.
  • Why does the editing screen not display 3D characters?
  • Why is the outline not displayed around 3D characters?
  • Why does the character seem to be like a shadow picture?
  • Why does the editing screen not display 3D characters?

Your computer may not meet the specifications necessary to run ComiPo!. Also, even if it does, your graphics driver or DirectX version may be too old.

Please confirm the necessary system requirements to run ComiPo! at this page.

If your PC meets the minimum requirements and you are still experiencing problems, please try changing the options below.

  1. Open "Tools > Preference" menu.
  2. Check the option "Switch 3D Rendering Method" in "3D Setting > Trouble Measures".
  3. Quit and restart ComiPo!

If the problem still persists, you may need to update DirectX your graphics driver. Please try the following steps:

>1. Update DirectX

Please refer to FAQ question 36 for direction on how to update DirectX.

>2. Update graphics driver

If your problem is not solved even after you have updated DirectX, please obtain and install the latest version of the graphics driver (or video card driver) from appropriate vendor support page.

3. Regional Format

If your regional format settings on Windows is set to other format than English, please try changing to English and see if it solved your problem. (This problem will be resolved in the next update.)

  • Windows XP: Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Regional Options > Format
  • Windows Visa/7: Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Formats > Format

Why does the character seem to be like a shadow picture?

If you use NVIDIA's graphic card , and changing preference of "NVIDIA Control Panel", It may occur. Start "NVIDIA Control Panel" and change the preference to following.

[3D Settings] -> [Adjust image settings with preview] choose "Let the 3D application decide."

32. May I consider the preinstalled assets in ComiPo! (“ComiPo! Assets”) as copyrights free?

We hold full copyrights with respect to ComiPo! Assets. We neither abandon any of them, nor give, transfer, sell or grant any of them to you in any sense.

Therefore, ComiPo! Assets are not copyrights free. If you publish your works created by using ComiPo! Assets in other applications than ComiPo! software, you infringe our copyrights.

However, we do not lay copyright claim on your creative works (composition of characters, panels, story, scripts, etc.) as far as you use ComiPo! software legally.

33. Can I use the preset assets in ComiPo! (such as Koishikawa Miho and Nishiike Kaname character) for my dojinshi (self-published) works?

Yes, you can use the preset assets for publishing dojinshi works. Plus, you can reproduce characters like Koishikawa Miho and Nishiike Kaname in your works even without using ComiPo! (such as by hand-drawing), as long as they are in dojinshi form. We will be really happy to hear that you love them too.

However, if you plan on using the assets in other form than dojinshi, please consult with us by visiting support page.

34. Can I change the installation directory?

Yes, you can change the installation directory. Select "Custom Installation" and choose desired directory during installation.

For "Easy Installation", the program will be typically installed into "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\WebTechnology\ComiPo!"

35. I have already installed download version of ComiPo!, but I cannot start the application. What should I do?

The ComiPo! installer you have downloaded may be corrupted.

Please try to download the installer again from the online store you purchased ComiPo!. Then, reinstall it.

36. I have already installed ComiPo!, but I cannot start the application. What should I do?

ComiPo! requires .NET framework and DirectX to run correctly. .NET framework and/or DirectX may not be installed on your computer or not be up-to-date.

A. .NET Framework

You can try installing .NET framework from ComiPo! installer. However, we suggest that you should get the latest version of .NET framework from Microsoft website.

B. DirectX

You can try installing DirectX from ComiPo! installer. However, we suggest that you should get the latest version of DirectX end-user runtimes from Microsoft website.

37. I have got an error about license authentication. What should I do?

ComiPo! needs internet connection in order to authenticate your license. This error may be caused by one of the following problems. Please try the following suggestions and see if your problem can be solved.

A. Internet Connection

Confirm that your internet connection is working properly. You can open a few websites to see if you can view them normally.

B. Security Software

Some security software may block ComiPo! from accessing the Internet. In that case, please configure your security software to allow an internet access for ComiPo!.

C. Office Network

If your computer connects to the Internet via local network in your office or organization, the problem may occur not from your computer but from an access restriction in the network itself.

Please consult with your organization's network administrator. If it is possible, you should try to connect to the Internet directly without bypassing the local network.

38. I have previously created comic in Japanese version of ComiPo! Can I open it in English version?

While we are making every effort to maintain compatibility, the .cpd files created in Japanese version of ComiPo! may not fully compatible with English version. Some data might be lost when you open file from different versions.

40. I lost my license key. What should I do?

Your license key was sent to you by the online store (vendor) from which you purchased ComiPo!. Please contact them for information and questions related to the license key directly.

41. When I updated ComiPo!, the program converted to Japanese version. What should I do?

Please try uninstall the program. Then, reinstall the English version of ComiPo! and check if it solve your problem. If the problem persists, please contact us directly.

42. Can I use import 3D data that I created with othe software?

The “Importing User 3D Data" feature of ComiPo! supports "Metasequoia MQO Files" and "Wavefront OBJ Files."For more detail , check "Importing User 3D Data" Page.

43. I would like to create comics using photos that I took with my digital camera as User Data. How many photos can I use per comic?

There are limits on the size of Comic File data. You may experience not being able to read or save if you use many camera photo images in a single work. If you are using large-sized images, approximately 30 might be the limit. If you are using small-sized images, approximately 50 might be the limit. To be sure, please save your work in progress, view it, and see if the Comic File size has reached its limit. (Even if you use identical picture data more than once, it will count as twice.)

If you encounter an error, or fail to save your Comic File data, it is possible that you have exceeded the size limitation. Please attempt saving again after deleting some camera photo images. Also, after Version 1.55, you may be able to save the data using the “Save Only Current Page As…” feature under the File tab and save one page at a time. Please try saving page-by-page if you are not able to save your Comic File all at once.

46. How much pages can I make?

Max 32 pages. If you want to make over 32 pages, please make other .CPD file.

51. Can I install ComiPo! to the PC which installed Windows 8.1 / 10 ?

ComiPo! latest version are compatible with Windows 8.1 / 10. If you want to upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10, you will need to once uninstall the software. Please for more information look at this page.

52.How to Uninstall "ComiPo!" ?

[Windows Vista/7]

Push Windows Start Button, and choose [ComiPo!] -> [ComiPo! Uninstall]

[Windows 8.1]

Open Apps Menu, and choose [ComiPo!] -> [ComiPo! Uninstall]

[Windows 10

Push Windows Start Button, and choose [ComiPo!] -> [ComiPo! Uninstall]
